THREATS TO UNITY AND LOVE IN OBUDU

Division and hatred is on the increase in Obudu local government area of Cross River State which is my lovely hometown because of certain activities that's has demand my affectionate attention to  create awareness and possible solutions.

There's no land that have achieved development with hatred and disunity. Some of the activities that pose threat to the unity and love thereby hindering development in Obudu are ;

(1): The activities of Cultism in Obudu is on the increased just like in other areas of the country Nigeria. They're are various cult groups existing in Obudu now with die hearted members of 15 - 40 years age bracket. A youthful engine age stage that's now spent showing how rugged, efficient,hating and hardened by killing each other in struggle for supremacy. Brother now rise against brother,parents rise against parents that complain of the behaviors of their wards. Members of the same cult group are friends but other group members are enemies. Non cult members are tag name like "ju" and intimidated often especially when they dress on white or red colors. These activities have brought segregation, division and hate among families in the land. Listen ! Being a cultist doesn't make you a hard man rather a weak man. Strong people don't join groups and invite members to come fight for them,strong people rather forgives despite the so many rightful reasons to fight back. No one has been honored in the society for involving in cultism rather it has brought death,shameful death. Despite the sermon and the obvious realities on the dangers of cultism more are initiated often because they're constantly high from illicit drugs consumption like trammadol,codain etc that have become the other of the day. Let it be known to all asundry that Cultism destroys the unity and brotherly love in every society. Stiffer penalties should be on ground to dread and desist people from engaging in such unity circuit breaker.

(2):Secondly the activities of "the game of Politics" like many refer to it has conspicuously brought division and hatred for one another in Obudu rather than uniting. Political parties members with similar support for an interested candidates are friends(even the friendship doesn't last) if otherwise they're enemies. The do or die quest for love of power by few rich indigenes of Obudu and the zoning system has brought unending misunderstanding between Villages, Families,Age grade and significant others. Politics is a dignified vehicle of establishing leaders with integrity and not otherwise. Obudu indigenes should understand this and no one will be able to manipulate any. Politics should stand for what it is by uniting and not dividing us.

(3):Thirdly the activities of the few rich and influential persons in the land are often rebuked by the esteemed yearning population. Wealthy persons in Obudu are described often as stingy than generous. Most of them focus on welfare than wellbeing. Contracts main for wellbeing are influentially gotten but not executed. Whoever dare to question is mark a death man living as they will frustrate everything concerning you. In a recent development, a young fast growing youth was sacked from his place of work because he publicly challenged one of the influential man to boast of one thing he has done for Obudu community. That's the extent it has gone,Once you become Rich even your mother is seen as  a witch. Holy Mackerel!!. These and among others contribute to division and hate among us. What makes you valuable is your ability to create values for humanity else you become less significant with speed of time.

(4):Communal clashes resulting from Land disputes in Obudu has also contributed to division and hate in the land. Villages rise in arms against themselves leaving unhealed wounds in the minds of survivors. Nothing should be worthy of fighting ourselves. Brotherhood is tested in period of misunderstanding. No absolute peace have resulted from war instead it prunes more wars that keep threatening our unity and love.

Conclusively the activities of alleged witchcraft,jealousy,illiteracy has also brought increased division and hate. I have chosen to reflect on this not just to expose my beloved Obudu community to the entire world but to bring it to the noticed of all my pains and to plead with every son and daughter of Obudu in any little position or capacity to join me in creating awareness and beg for a positive change in lifestyle within and among Obudu people. Let this be my toothpick to get rid of the uncomfortable tick in our mouth. Obudu must grow stronger in unity & love if development must come. LONG LIVE OBUDU LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA
