OBUDU PARENTS WEPT OVER ILLICIT DRUGS INTAKE BY CHILDREN
Parents in Obudu local government area of Cross River State lament bitterly the addiction of their children to illicit drugs intake that was described by them as the other of the day.
Speaking in Obudu the local government headquarter one Mr Agba was in tears "i am weeping for my children, our children that have chosen a strange life style in the name of flexing,they don't even hear us anymore" .Another woman who spoke said " Its has gotten out of hand,youths are constantly high than high tension. They smile without a funny reason and fight among themselves".
The illicit drugs as i was informed ranges from Tramadol that's known as TM, Codene is nicknamed joy,Jegeni and among others . The availability of these banned drugs in pharmacy still remains a question in the minds of people.
Some parents described the illicit drugs intake as a threat to safety and contribution to the death in conscience that result to robbery,killing and cultism activities in the area.
One of the parents however revealed that his son told him after serious beatings the reason he takes it is to satisfy girls sexually and have continuous sexual stamina. Some said they are into it because it gives them enough energy,happiness and boldness to withstand the day's stress.
Parents and Significant others have pleaded with the authorities to check thoroughly the sales of illicit drugs in the area and prosecute whoever is caught selling or consuming it.
However efforts have been initiated by various heads of villages to assist the authorities in monitoring the consumption of illicit drugs in the area. Stiffer penalties have also been set to desist youths from such acts. Youths have been advised to choose healthy living always.
