ASUU BEGINS INDUSTRIAL ACTION
The academic staff union of universities
has began its industrial action after a
meeting of the National executive committee
in Abuja after a deliberation that lasted for three days.
The striking lecturers are calling for the
federal government to fulfilled it
agreement reached in 2009 and among other issues.
The chairman of the union Biodun Ogunyemi
has ordered lecturers to stay away from
academic activities.
The strike is said to be indefinite.
Students have lamented over the action
describing it as hitch in academic program.
In some universities some offices were seen locked while few were opened and students gathered in groups discussing the indefinite action.
Strike in Education sector in Nigeria is often because of irregularities in governance .
