REVEREND FATHER RESIGNED AS A CATHOLIC PRIEST

Uyo based Catholic priest Rev. Father Patrick henry Edet has resigned after years in the priesthood.

Making the announcement on Planet FM, Uyo branch of the federal radio cooperation of Nigeria. He said "from today i ceased to be a catholic priest in my soul & spirit, I forgive those who will criticize me, i will live for God,I will seek freedom for my soul, i leave with smile, am so happy that am free".

The denounced Catholic Priest said he summited the resignation later on the 31 of July to the diocese and he would now be address as Reverend Patrick Henry Edet.

Catholics have reacted to his resignation. While some criticize the decision others applauded him. One Miss Itoro a choir mistress in the parish Reverend Patrick Edet was in charged said "its not about leaving the church but contributing to a change in the church,am disappointed with his decision after so many years in the seminary and priesthood. It doesn't tell well of the catholic organization and his home". Another parishioner said "let him go,he is looking for five thousand people to feed him, if he gave up in Catholic church,he will surely give up somewhere else or with God".

One Mr Akpan Friday was of the opinion that "its better that way than to be there and abused the institution like the rumors we hear about some priests. Let him go and marry or do whatever pleases him but if his intentions is to get rich like others do with God Name then its bad".
