A 29 years old man identified as Ibrahim Yunisa has been sentence to receive 10 strokes of the cane for stealing a ladder on the 12th of this month in a remote village of abuja.

Delivery the judgment Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq who is the judge in charge of Karmo grade one area court found Ibrahim Yunesa guilty of theft and ordered he should be given 10 good strokes of the cane. The judge said the lite weight of the punishment is because Ibrahim had pleaded for mercies but warn that he should desist from such acts as the court "won't smile" on him next time.
The strokes was described by Victor Otuwe who reside in abuja as "anti theft lashes". Victor applaud the judge for his leniency and thank the youths for doing the right thing by handing Ibrahim over to the police and pray such lawful practice should be emulated to reduce jungle justice as it would have been so sad to hear a man was burnt alive for stealing a ladder.
Ibrahim had confess he wanted to sale the ladder to raise money for his upkeep as job was not forth coming.
The caning was later done openly with crowd counting the strokes well administered that got Ibrahim screaming never to steal again. It is a thing of shame by the Culture of Nigeria to be canned in such way.
