SO SAD: MAN JUMPED INTO LAGOS LAGOON

A man identified as Oluseyi Adekunle has jumped into the Lagos lagoon at early hours of yesterday being Friday the 21st October.

Oluseyi Adekunle as revealed by family members is from Ondo state and was in Lagos just three days ago to attend a church program.

Oluseyi Adekenle was identified after ATM and National Identity Card were found this morning by the search team. Oluseyi body is yet to be found after 24hours.

Lagos Lagoon has so far witnessed some dead popular cases of suicide with the first one being a medical doctor who jumped into the lagoon early this year while the second person was rescued by passersby before he could make the move to jump. Oluseyi Adekenle case is the recent and third reported case from deliberate jumping in the lagoon.

The Lagos lagoon is 50km long and 13km by width. The name lagoon is Portuguese meaning lake. It has bridges like Third mainland, Eko and Carter.

Reactions have thrilled on twitter following the sad news, some had already wish Adekenle soul a peaceful rest and pray his soul really rest as they believed no one can survive jumping that length. @omotoshe warned that "there is no reason worth killing yourself, it is a shameful to die that way,man deserves to die Honorable and be buried honorable. I doubt if death is the end of suffering".

Others who reacted blame the high rate of unemployment in the country, economical hardship and individual reasoning for recent suicides across the country.

However there is no official confirmation about his death yet as search is still on for him but some Lagosian were quick to remember the words of oba of Lagos in 2015 just before the general election. The oba had openly said "vote for Ambode as Governor or be drown in the lagoon". A statement that attracted vast criticism across the country with some calling for his arrest.

The recent suicides in the lagoon has brought back the words to the minds of many Lagosians and Nigerians with the complexity if his words as a man in authority is coming through.

Nigerians have advise the Lagos state government and other states government to employ and established more counseling centers in this period of "recession and Economical hardship" for easy access by people with depressing problems as it would go a long way to reduce suicides.
