CREATION OF STATES IN NIGERIA; A UNITY OR DISUNITY!

With recent happenings and increase in bias obvious to even the blind and deaf in Nigerian, I am force to reflect on the aim of state creation in this country. Creation of state is believed to be for good governance and effective policy implementation. It is a medium of reaching the grassroot needs but has this notion of state creation divided or united us? Is the states government living up to expectations or are they shifting the blame to federal government and enriching themselves?.

Every concern citizen and even the leaders should pounder on this. Creation of state has rather brought disunity than unity among Nigerians . employment opportunities are only for indigenes of a state. Admission into school favours mostly indigenes and the few non indigenes admitted pay higher fees. Positions of authority are held by indigenes even when not really qualified. Even in our federal institutions of learning it is now a taboo for a Vice Chancellor to come from other state. Head of department most also be an indigene. If this acts are practice in our schools of learning that teach change in behavior then it will always live with us.

Secondly in every state there exist a political leadership structure with objectives and a mandate. These governments need to realize her objective should be unifying,Achieved and stand a taste of time. State leaders wake up and realize there can't be a leader without the people but people can choose to be acephalous. No to minoring on the majors and majoring on the minors else disunity will exist. Leaders should boast about billions of lives they transformed including from neighboring states and not billions of naira in their account.

Creation of state has also affected marriage. Parents have indoctrinated their children not to marry from other states even anyone does only God can survive that marriage. Holy Mackerel!! State Mindset have differentiated us because NAME gives identify, NAMES gives differentiation . whoever brought the notion of state creation didn't prepare us well. Hence This society need to undergo efficient Personal Social and Unity in Diversity counseling. And "i will see a Nigeria where someone from Cross River State can contest for governor in Sokoto".
