GUN MEN KILLED WORSHIPPERS IN ANAMBRA

Unknown gun men have stormed the premise of St. Philip's Catholic Church Anambra this morning shooting sporadically at worshippers leaving many death and others injured.

According to an eye witness who is an indigene of the community "this morning gun men entered my home town of Ozubulu, precisely at St Philip's Catholic Church, Amakwa Ozubulu, Anambra State opened fire and killed several worshippers".

He added that "St Philip's is reputed as a purposed built architectural masterpiece, a luxurious place of worship consecrated about two years ago by the Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Most Rev Dr Odili Okeke. The project was solely financed by world famous philanthropist High Chief Nnamdi Ikegwounwu (Ebubechukwuuzo Ozubulu) .Bodies are being taken to nearby Ozubulu Joint Hospital mortuary. The message the armed men sent is yet to be ascertained but the terror is suspected to be religiously motivated".

Catholic Christians and sympathisers have poured out condolence messages to the bereaved families expressing shock over the deathly attack. This is said to be the first church attack in the area. Armed security personnel have been deployed to the area to maintain further breakdown of law and order.
