Every year, Every feast we gather with our best cloths covering our dirty hearts and intentions drinking , smoking , eating , dancing away good will cum well being leaving empty bottles,Used Condoms, deposited sperms, Car paths and unspeakable debts in the minds of each other all in the name of New Yam or significant others celebration.

In the time past, New Yam Celebration was a great way of thanksgiving to the gods and humanity for the fruitful harvest of farm products and man empowerment. It was a climax of displaying communal love. It was a period where new members of a given village are selected and trained by the community in any aptitude of their choice but to how these has been replaced by the recent Devil-Like  borrowed lifestyle even when we now worship God is worth reflecting on.

Of recent Communities days across Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River are held a day before the new yam to address issues concerning the community. Hundreds of thousands are spent to host the meeting,Women contribute a bowl of Fufu, Men Contribute yams, Youths clear the road for well established indigenes to drive through. There is Malnourished Deliberation,food is eaten, Alcohol is cordially Consumed, fake promises are made then the same thing is repeated the following year.

The repetition is kept alive because less concern is now given to issues that matters, we have derailed from our ancestral foresight with the label they are old or echeck. We don't tell ourselves the truth any longer, we feed ourselves with fake praises then go behind and cast all the storms of each wrong doing. Contributing to the state we are presently.

The more steps to address these issues ,the more issues arising, in fact it will begin right from that convention because of Cultism, Politics and Witchcraft. These three Abominable acts and T Road blocks have done more harm to the present State of Obudu. Cultism has divided us,Politics has Killed us, Witchcraft has buried us happily, the Obudu in us has been divided ,killed and buried. A brother can now rise against brothers, an Obudu man will kill his fellow for Cultism or politics sake, Oh Bette Begie.

Addressing these issues has been difficult because even those to address it are either cultists,in different political parties cum political enemies or have failed in contributing to the welfare of those youths stilly resident there.

Until we realized Obudu can not, i repeat can not be Obudu without addressing these T blocks we won't be there. Addressing this issue involves assisting to place these young ones in areas they belong. An average Obudu youth doing Okada or plating hairs has at least SS3 and NSE certificate. I boast about that every where i go,Check around you will agree and boast too.

These youths need assist from those up to climb the ladder, they need wellbeing and not welfare, forget the praises they shower on you,behind they abused you, behind they say you belong to cult groups that have sworn not to help apart from giving money to get more when you get home. Behind they say you are not helping because you don't want to be less significant. Believe it or not Everyone is less significant with time but no one is safe,not even you with these high unemployed youths.

Youths it is inappropriate to youthfulness to put your hopes on a man, you will be disappointed. Disappointment and man are friends, in fact it is now right to call man disappointment,hello Disappointments !!. Youths in Obudu am so impressed with your effort to earn a living but am very disappointed with your involvement in cultism. Cultism is a high way to a shameful grave and a hitch in unity. Am also disappointed with some of you that have thrown a good meal specially prepared by Significant others for your wellbeing. Am disappointed with your been allowed to be use by Some vessel as thugs. Am disappointed with your involvement in Prostitution. Am also disappointed with the level of teenage pregnancy and abortion by you youths.

Elders am impressed with your Fatherly care for Obudu, you're the Mega Light to us, you light our footsteps lead us not to early graves but to our destiny. Stop your evil practices that have stop some people from going home even those that go sleeps in hotel or with brooms by the doors and Windows. What does it profit you to kill your own heir? There's no acceptable reason. The pride of a father is to see the child become a father and live longer. Parent them and not pepper them. Stop the fight for Land, it should be settle with wisdom. Hundred of Thousands wasted on hosting Community days should be used to train Youths in areas of aptitude.

Let this New yam celebration be a turn around from negative aspects of life, it is necessary to revive the Obudu love, So Love. We don't need a culture of hate and fight, we need a culture of unending Goodness and Love towards each. We now live in fear, some now hate going home, those that are there can't even eat food brought by neighbors. Many find it difficult to identify with fellow Obudu people anywhere they find one.

Today i bomb your hearts with these words to destroy things that won't make Obudu grow. You are Obudu, I am Obudu ,We are Obudu. My words goes to every Son and Daughter of Obudu,am referring to you, shake up that mentality of its for those up there, no, its for you. Our little effort are developmental ingredients and when put together wow will be the expression of others.

Those in higher rank help others to get up,those in lower rank be humble and focus to get up, make it culture to show goodness. Abstain from the T block , Our love for each other should overcome Political differences ,eradicate Cultism and Witchcraft. He who involves in such should be allowed , i repeat allowed to  face the wrath of the law so others can deter from it.

This can't be completed without bombing gratitude to those death and living that have struggled and are still struggling hard to make Obudu Sons and Daughters happy through your employment opportunities, peaceful intervention in issues and the show of kindness without considering which part of Obudu he or she is from with that you have shown there's only one part in Obudu and its call Obudu. I hail thee Among Men, i exonerate you among the living, I drink your ways enjoyable, I eat your healthy diet. I should have mention your names but its not in my nature.
