COURT ORDERS SENATOR ABARIBE TO PRODUCE NNAMDI KANU

A federal high court in Abuja has ordered Senator Abaribe standing as a N100M bail surety for Nnandi Kanu to produce him in court by November 20.

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra Nnandi Kanu is missing from his resident in Abia state for over a month and three days now. He was last seen on the 14th of September after alleged reports of Army raiding his home in operation python dance.

Kanu was arrested during the end of last year for his inciting breakout campaign and charged to court for felony and among others. He was remanded in custody since then until his bail in April 24th 2017 granted by the court.

Senator Eyninnaya Abaribe ,Emmanuel O Shalom and Tochukwu Uchendo were the three sureties for his bail, though some Nigerians believe they were politically influenced to surety for missing Kanu.

The three were summon in court sequel to his absence but only Senator Abaribe was represented by his council Ogechi Ogunna who filed a request that Senator Abaribe wants to opt out as a Kanu's Surety. Delivery the verdict Justice Binta Nyako gave three options to Senetor Abaribe;
1: To Ask for more time to produce Kanu in Court.
2: To Be ready to forfeit his N100M bail bond.
3: To produce Kanu in court then apply to be discharged as a surety.

Senator Abaribe lawyer maintained his grounds that it is the duty of the security agencies especially the vibrant army to provide Kanu and not his client(Abaribe). Adding that he lack the "technical power" to search for Kanu's where about. Justice Nyako insisted on the court conditions and Senator Abaribe Council pleaded for more time. The case was adjourned to 20th November. The ruling "however" covers the three sureties.

Some Nigerians have advise caution and carefulness in agreeing and standing as surety for significant others else it would be a "regrettable intended kind gesture".

Senator Eyninnaya 62years was the former deputy Governor of Abia State from 1999 to 2003 under Orji Uzo Kalu and now represents Abia-South senatorial district.

IPOB was last month declared a terrorist group by Buhari led Federal Government and as usual they were reactions by Igbo and Nigerians all around the world. Some were in a neutral view that a terrorist is a person, group, or organization that uses violent action, or the threat of violent action, to further political goals but what is regarded as violent is relative and far varies from the activities of IPOB.

It is unclear if Kanu charges would now include terrorism and would be tried with gboko haram arrested terrorists that are alleged to have killed and so many are yet to be convicted but as always it is as the "court pleases".
