SOUTHERN GOVERNORS WIVES' FORUM ENDS IN CALABAR
Wives of Governors in Southern part of Nigeria have completed a three days summit on enhancing good governance in Calabar, Cross River State.
The wives were hosted by the first lady of Cross River State Dr. Mrs Linda Ayade as steps to ensure good governance in the region and Nigeria at wide.
The summit started on the 26th of October and ended today 28th of October. First ladies of all the states in South-South, South- East and South-West Geopolitical zone were in attendance.
In attendance also were Personal Assistants, Special Advisers, Security Personnel who gave security briefings and other respected dignitaries not excluding Makeup artists that kept the First Ladies Faces Firstly Beautiful.
The forum was part of the strong role women have in the society to stand always in support of man as commanded by God during creation. They expressed readiness to always support their husbands to achieved their campaign promises and recommits measures to straighten unity between the states.
Dr Mrs Linda Ayade thanked the First Ladies for coming to the peoples paradise and encouraged they all keep standing as pillars to their husbands amidst political distress. She pleaded an allowance for active participation of women in politics in the country and motivated the spirit of the First Ladies that someday women would become Governors and President in Nigeria. A statement that attracted a louder Amen from the women.
Some Cross Riverians appreciated the brain behind the forum and encouraged the First ladies to always serve as the first and best advisers to their husbands to elevate livelihood in southern Nigeria.
One Miss Enoh said "I appreciate the effort of these first ladies to brainstorm on the way forward, they are indeed wives and mothers. I encourage them to never give up in persuading their husbands to achieve election mandate withing this short time left as from next year they may be preoccupy with election campaigns."
Few Cross Riverian expressed worries about the actualization of the meeting outcomes with question of if most Governors really listen to their wives but pray the women's words touches their hearts.
The forum that attracted traffic jam in some streets of Calabar during movements of the first ladies had activities like speeches from each First Lady and suggestion on what best to be done to project the region forward, Empowerment scheme for some women in indigenous communities in the state, Cut tail party with performance from a live band, Comedy and among other "women things" were highlights of the occasion.
The Southern Governors Wives Forum is chaired by Mrs Nneoma Rochas Okoracha.
