MAJOR THREATS TO UNITY IN NIGERIA

Unity in Nigeria the giant of Africa as we believed and hale ourselves to happiness like that obtain from Alcohol V Music combination is threaten by one significantly silence habit among Nigerians. This habit is what i have captioned "Unity Killer".

Number one embryo of Unity Killer comprises of four words sentence with a question mark,it is a closed question and its "Where Are You From?". Where are you from is seen as a way of introduction and identification, even job application or official forms that we fill has a section for this. Where are you from have created indifference feelings,bias,segregation, partiality,corruption, abuse of office because there's more welcoming feelings towards person from your state or locality than others except the grace of God manifest. In Overseas like the United Kingdom and United States of America where are you from is used for identification but we copied wrongly and it now means point of favour. Let it be known deeply in our hearts that there's only one part in Nigeria and its Nigeria. Nigeria as a name gives identity, States tend to give differentiation.

Another threat to our Unity is our views about the entity Nigeria,we tend to see each other like we were not main to be ,many have render abuses and blamed the unifying departed soul of Lord Lugard for amalgamating the north & south protectorate than thanking or abiding to the binding spirit. Many are of the view that our oneness has become like an adopted child that realized who her real parents are or giving a 10years old child out for marriage which will bring fourth blunders like what Nigeria is passing through. All these views are anchored on the fact that we weren't ready and we should have been better apart than together because of our pluralized state. This view have been transfer from generation to generation even in schools its an area of discussion in topics like social interaction,precolonial and post colonial era among other topics. The aim of exposing us to be grounded about our society have indirectly created the awareness that we are not one even some teachers have the audacity to say this without solution.  Our views should rather be like a husband & wife with different ethnicity or cultures that so prosper together for better or worse. Its just a mindset,Nigerians mind can be set this way too with the help of Education that's main for a change in behavior and a correction of societal happenings through a course or subject call UNITY make compulsory for all levels of Education. It Awareness should also extend to non school settings with the help of Allah,it objectives will be Akbar.

POLITICS has also been a threat to Nigeria unity from independent, military regime witnessed threat to unity all because of power tussle. Many blood,innocent blood have been shared living pains and unforgivingness in the hearts of love ones alive. Election malpractices have resulted to clashes like that of 2011 in the northern part of Nigeria have contributed to a threat of our unity and peace. The failure in the aspect of our elected leaders to fulfilled their obligations has contributed also to a threat in our unity. The manless to accept defeat,love of power and inciting statements by our politicians has really threaten our peace. The inability to accept and understand that every elected leader with emphasis on the president step aside after four years or eight years in office has increased the fight and hatred among the three ethnic groups in Nigeria. Politics has earned many more enemies than friends,it has rather increased the indifference among us rather than binding us through the leadership its stands for. Politics should always be a vehicle of dignity(keyword dignity) to establish leaders.

RELIGION its a way to God,overwhelming God that has the capacity to accommodate and carter for all. The two major Religion in Nigeria are Christianity & Islam. Islam is practice more in the north while Christianity is predominant in the south resulting to the increased pressure in diversity and break in unity between these two regions because of the frequent clashes in claim of superiority. Muslims see Christians as as infidels,Christian see Muslims as terrorist. The misunderstanding grows daily more than the understanding of religion being a way to almighty God who has the capacity to accommodate and carter for all without even considering which way (religion) to him. Our clergies or imam who are resource person in the teaching of God words should pass this to members without sugarcoating it. God is too unlimited to struggle or fight each other on his name. We should rather use religion to contribute to our unity because God is unifying.

Finally, Disagreement must exist as long as humans exist,there's no perfect being or society, there more we try to be careful,there more we make silent mistakes. No matter the mistakes,we should kill ourselves with forgiveness. it shouldn't break us but bind us stronger because we Nigerians are like wedded husband & wife,no divorce, no breakup,no one internationally or domestically should put asunder,Its a sin.
