POWER OF SILENCE...

In the year 1999, a young man ,very educated and intelligent man residing in Lagos went home for the burial of his father and was arrested by the police because he frown at the motorcycle rider for giving them five naira which was a big money then.

They got to the police station ,did and said all their usual tricks. The young man was quiet and didn't say a word to them despite the questions of who are you? Where are you from? They kept him in the police station for hours. His family members back home got so worried what might have gone wrong. It wasn't an era of mobile phones where someone can easily call.

When evening was approaching and the young man hasn't said even a word, the police men became worried, one of them said in their native language this "man most be very enlightened and educated about the law". There other said "since my professional years as a policeman this is the first time am experiencing this",the female among the police officers said "the worse is we don't even know his mind. Indeed the law that allows the right to silence is a very powerful weapon of victory".

The panicked policemen released the young man immediately who didn't have any offence and he joined his family for the burial celebration. After explaining what happened to his family, laughter was on everyone face atleast for minutes and the father burial was however shifted to the following day.

Silence is often powerful but not always,in a sad incident that happened three months ago in Calabar, a young man visited his wife that just put to birth from Lagos. It was his first time of coming to calabar,no one actually knew him.

He went out on a faithful evening to buy Recharge card, unfortunately for him armed robbers just finished robbing the compound opposite where he stood. The victims involved got out and saw him since the face was strange, they asked him who are you?  He kept quiet, they repeated the question instead of speaking he started running. They chased him, caught him and was beaten to death.
This another twist of being silence.

Silence commands wondering because no one knows exactly what's on your mind. While it maybe powerful in circumstance B,it may be detrimental in Circumstance C hence Silence is a two edge sword. Let's use it appropriately.
