HEAVY RAINFALL FLOOD STREETS IN CALABAR

Heavy Rainfall that began last night till this hour has flooded many homes and streets of Calabar metropolis.

In Nelson Mandela Street off Main Avenue residents were spotted emptying water from their houses while Car owners took alternative roots. Some areas in Edim otop,Goldie,Ekpo Abasi,High Way are also flooded.

Some of the residents lamented about the hard state of living in period of rainfall in the area describing it as unbearable and pleaded with the government to intervene.

Calabar have experienced rainfall but this is said to be the first heavy rain this year. The rain started last night but subsided early this morning and soon began as some residents of the city left their houses to church. Many are still patiently waiting for the rain to stop in church while some left under the rain not considering their so valued makeup or starched cloths. 

Last month there was news of flood in Lagos and other cities in Nigeria after heavy rainfall which resulted to many collapsed houses thereby rendering many homeless and lose of valuable properties. 

Nigerians have called on the government to construct standard drainage system and compliance to the township map of settlement.
