FOOTBALL GAME AND THE SOCIETY

Football game officially became known after the first world cup hosted by Uruguay in 1930 though there was club side football but it awareness was not known. The awareness of football spread with time and with the coming of Africa Nations Cup in 1980. Football game is made up of eleven players in each side, played for 90 minutes and additional 30 minutes extra time depending on the stage of the competition and the score line. Football can't be complete without the cheerful victory highly expected supporters.

In the 19s football match was aired on the Radio with the likes of Nigeria's Aka Eze Aka, Effiom Archibong and among other Nigerians i may have forgotten with time that gave us a good imaginary view of  football through Radio Commentary. I remembered how we and other well meaning Nigerians did gather around Radio sets paying maximum attention to these duo bringing live feed and increase the tension or hope for a goal in us even if the ball is still within midfield area.

The radio was soon replaced by television with the coming of technology and its still in use till date. Today the access to watch a football match is more available, the love of football has increases, football has gone from just world cup or nation cup to club side football league games such as the premier league, Seria i ,LA Liga, Chinese League, Bundes Liga, Nigeria Professional League etc With teams like Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint German, Arsenal, Kanu Pillars, Enyimba of Abba, Sharks of Port Harcourt, Rovers football club of Calabar etc.

The awareness and wide spread level of football game has given birth to many benefits and demerits on the society. 

BENEFITS OF FOOTBALL TO THE SOCIETY
The benefits of football game to the society are now as mouth watering like anything you can think of. It is a source of livelihood, wealthy livelihood and income to Players, Agents, Coach, Medical staffs, fitness specialists, gardeners, Club side owners, Business Men and the general public.
There is no football match without players and since winning is the objective of each football team, best players are selected in the national level or bought at club side level with per match allowance and weekly wages ranging in millions respectively for the motivation of the players to give their best. The call to National team depends on a player performance in his club side but the buying of players by club sides is facilitated by agents who monitor, bargain and has a romantic percent from the sale of each player though many have seen it like an upgraded slave trading but players has Rights and are recognize by the law. The coach is needed too to formulate techniques that ensures the team victory, such coach are bought and paid heavily weekly at club side and monthly at National level. Medical Staffs are employed to attain to injured players on the field of play and keep the entire team healthy.  Fitness Specialists are employed with the role of keeping the team players and Coaches including those recuperating from injuries fit and if any player fail the fitness test such player will be benched or not bought. Gardeners are employed with the obligation of maintaining the club side or national stadium environment and giving it a good healthy phase. Club Side owners are entrepreneurs who invest and gain,they take financial risk of the team. It is often owned by individuals or board of directors .These entrepreneurs make money from the sale of players Jersey, match tickets, deals,trophies etc. Football serve as a  source of income too to Business Men who sales players shirts, open viewing centers, open football betting houses, gives daily news on the internet and on papers relating to football. Generally football is now a very Lucrative business to the society.

DEMERITS OF FOOTBALL TO THE SOCIETY
Football has brought wrongs implications to the society ranging from the abuse of precious time spent on it by students, security personnel abandoning their duty post, medical staffs running away from the shifts, drivers in so much speed to arrive their destination all in the name of i don't want to miss watching the football match. Football game has increases rivalry and clashes between citizens of the country and fans of different clubs. The increase for the attention given to Football especially in Nigeria has also brought negligence of the needs to know in our society. Most Nigerians can't even mention the names of their local government chairman but will mention the full names of European Leagues Players,how much they were bought, how much they earn, favorite cars and their girlfriends. Football has brought a cold attitude towards National issues by the esteem youths. The lucrative nature of Football has also brought pressure by parents for their kids to venture into playing football even when they don't have the aptitude or skill, While some parents influence their children to marry footballers even when the love is not there thus increasing the rift between parents and children. Football has also brought the abusive involvement of adults and teenagers in betting. These people spend daily on betting without nothing in return and some go to the extent of stealing parents or significant others money to bet. Generally football has contributed to a distraction in the society.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FOOTBALL AND THE SOCIETY
There is no football without the society but a society can exist without football. What this implies is that the focus should not solely be in football but other areas or source of living in the society too. Football has contributed a lot to the development of the society and the society has provide wet grounds for it sustenance and development. The game of Football with eleven players assisting each others to get a goal reflect and reminds the society of the need to help each other even in worse moments bearing in mind that some days are good while some are bad. The lucrative nature of football has risen more traffic in the society into it and less interest for other aspect especially Education that best students are rewarded with just pencils and rubber plates. Footballers are kings in the society and the Society is ensure their worth.

In Summary Football is an entertainment and a blessing to the society. How distractive it is to any depends on how you disorganize any is. It should be a game of those who have the talents or passion. Parents and significant others should understand and desist from pressurizing children into it. There should be discipline by members of the society about football bearing in mind that its a civil offense to abandon your duty post to watch another man post call football, caution should be apply else it may be the last match watch.
