LITE WORDS
"Listen my son,as you step out remember first friends you meet can maim or make you hence choose your friends wisely." Those were the words of my mum before i left for the city in search of greener pastures. The words echoed in my brain as i sat in the vehicle headed for calabar, the Cross River State Capital. The entering of our vehicle in a pothole soon brought back my attention, i then wondered how a man will just put his life in the hands of one man call a driver in the name of traveling. My thoughts were actually loud and the driver responded "all these Christians wae no want die but they want go heaven. I kept quit before he takes it personal and stammered with the stiring but he seems so enlighten.
I arrived the city and got acquainted to the environment so fast,it was more of party in the evening hours for most people. An act i got believe most will choose party instead of heaven, rock it well and return to the angel of God saying "Eyen Ette ku ya sen(no vex) ,take back party and gimme heaven" but the angel will say No, the Calabar man will just provoke "Afo Angel nou mi(gimme) heaven", the angel of God will respond "do you know who you're commanding ,am the angel of God." The calabar man will reply "Kpon kpon rou(forget that thing) your wings don even old." The angel will provoke "how dare you insult an angel of the most high God, you will rot in hell." The Calabar man will respond angrily too, "you this Ette Abassey (God) boy boy its like you don't have respect,I will run you street now, Angel mi mia o (i will beat you), in fact Obong Abassey nou me just default five minutes." The Angel will just lift and about to throw the calabar man to hell then he will begin begging "Mbakara Angel, ufan can't some play with you,Nbok kpon edem."
That's the extent of the guts of a calabar man but once match up he will mellow with style. Life continued for me meaningful and met a guy who look so gentle in appearance. I approached him and he told me his name is thief, i said pardon,he repeated thief. I said "my name is police you're under arrest",he laughed and stretch out fifty naira,I said "its a big offense to bribe an officer of the Nigeria Police Force." We both laughed and earned our friendship. As times goes on i kept warning him to change that name else it will land in trouble some day but he said "nothing, Na me be thief, the only man that steal souls back to God."
Unfortunately for thief my friend ,he went to Edim Otop and drank beyond control, brethren that day was not easy. Thief began running helter skelter, we followed suit shouting thief stop! thief stop!! , the residents brought out fuel and tyres of course there don't joke before we will got hold of him they gave him some beatings. The following morning i said good morning thief, he replied "God punish you, all things have passed away, that's no longer my name,I will arrest you if you call me that name." I smiled withing my heart and told him in the tone of timaya "indeed when time reach them no there telli person."
I and thief sorry former thief stepped on the evening of that weekend where else if not just to yakaban as a typical Calabar man will call it. My girlfriend soon joined me of course wine without woman and music is a waste. We sat and took some bottles, a guy approach the table we sat and excuse my girl, she paid deaf ears to him and the guy slapped her, mehn ,i took her quietly and left, others were telling the guy to move that am going to reinforce but i left quietly to my house even without taking a picture or looking at the mirror no heir removed from my body.
LESSON: Names we bear can sometimes be disastrous and it may seems okay till it happens,Be careful. Also revenge doesn't make you a strong man rather a weak man, it is the right decision that chase away the wrong ones.
MY NAME IS ZEDICUS PIRO AND YOU KNOW SAY WORDS NO BE PROBLEM
