ARMY BEGINS OPERATION CROCODILE SMILE IN CALABAR

The Nigeria Army has began a military operation in Calabar, Cross River State
as measures to restore a crime free society. The exercise tag operation crocodile smile 2 kick started yesterday in Calabar the state headquarters.

Declaring it open, Maj. General Adamu Abubakar who is a commanding officer of 82 division, Enugu State said it became necessary following reported news of kidnappings, communal clashes, cultism, Arm Robbery,Prostitution, Militancy and among other social vices in the state. He further expressed readiness for the exercise and reveal it will cut across the entire state.

Major General Adamu paid a visit to Creek Town in Bakassi Local Government Area of the state where about 6 Army officers were suspected to be killed last year by a militant leader known as General. He was accompanied under tight security with other representative of security units and further revealed Operation Crocodile Smile is equally on going in Rivers, Ondo, Lagos, Enugu, Edo and Bayelsa States.

Heavy movements of army vehicles in the state capital got many wondering and some in fear as they are yet to understand what is going on. One Woman who sales fruits by the road side around Atimbo axis said "Everyday we hear the sound of Siren but don't know what is going on, its becoming normal to us by the roadside but this one is beyond what we know,i was force to start packing my little fruits,its so scaring you know."
Others that heard it was operation crocodile smile asked when did crocodile began smiling and could not understand what it means but some are force to relate it to operation python dance going on in the south east.

It is worthy to note that Operation Crocodile Smile is a code name for a military exercise that seek to ensure the utter safety of residents and properties especially the assets generating income for the Nation. It's often refer by some as the military cares.

Enlighten members of the public pleaded for sound awareness especially for people in the rural area before such military exercise begins to avoid panicked and misinterpretation. Appeals have been made too to the army to apply professionalism by avoiding "intimidation and maltreatment" of the residents throughout the period of the exercise.

The entire residents of Cross River State have been advise to go about their normal businesses and cooperate with the operation by providing any information that would clean the state of crimes. The operation will last till October 28.
