BREAKING: KENYATTA WON PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IN KENYA
Uhuru Kenyatta has been declared winner of the just concluded rerun presidential election in Kenya.
The Chairman of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Wafula Chebukati made the announcement in Naimarksthe capital of Kenya.
Uhuru Kenyatta is said to have won 98% of the votes that attracted just 39% turned out while Raila Odinga have just 0.09% vote. Wafula described the election as "free, fair and credible".
The opposition leader, Raila Odinga had pulled out of the election and ordered his supporters to stay off as well after an appeal to readjust the election date was ruled out by the supreme court last week.
In August the supreme court had annulled the presidential election because of irregularities and ordered a fresh rerun within 60days as stipulated in the constitution.
Protest by Odinga supporters have been on since then with demands of reforms in the election process and about 60 persons are feared dead while many injured.
As stated by the electoral law ,Raila Odinga have seven days to appeal the outcome of the election. Odinga has just announced he would appeal the election and further details would be made public tomorrow 31st of October.
There's currently jubilation in Uhuru Kenyatta clan, Kikuyi following the election result and prayed it marks the end of the "election troubles".
Some Kenyans have pleaded for calm from Odinga supporters to end protest rocking the country for over three months now, So the country can move on. They warned against speeches that would incite violence.
