FAKE MADMAN APPREHENDED FOR KIDNAPPING A CHILD IN LAGOS

A young man who is alleged to have acted insanely to kidnapped a three years old baby has been arrested in Lagos.

The man who has been identified as Tokunbor Nnanna, 25years old is said to have dressed haggardly and hangs around the premises of the compound where the child leaves.

On the 16th of October at about 9:am Nnanna was arrested by able men in No 19 Oyewoke Street Arile-Agege area after luring the child Abayomi Darasimi with a hundred naira note to carry out his alleged kidnapping intention. He was handed over to the police in Ikoyi division of Lagos state with a statement of "attempting kidnapping".

Nnanna was charged to court yesterday on two count charges of conspiracy and kidnapping. The magistrate in charge of the court in the area Tajudeen Elias ordered the suspect be remanded in custody and the case transferred to a higher court with jurisdiction for prosecution.

The family of the little child who are reported to be well doing business men advise the general public to becareful as man can take any form to fulfilled his evil intentions.

A relative of Tokunbor Nnanna begged for leniency as the accused has mental disorder for some time now and did not mean to kidnapped the little child. Nnanna is reported to have exhibit insane attitudes even in the court yard.

Many are confused on what to believe but suspect there is definitely a misunderstanding between the both parties that led them to court and pleaded with the court for transparency.

A legal practitioner Itam Richard was of the opinion that "whether insane or not the law allows for everyone trial in court. The court would work with the evidence before her".

The sentence for kidnapping as amended last month by the Nigerian Senate is death. Despite the new law some are yet to desist from kidnappings as there is still alleged reports of kidnappings with the most recent being five British nationals in Bayelsa State.
