EFCC RETURNS MISSING ELEVEN MILLION NAIRA TO REDEEMED CHURCH

Economic and financial crime commission (EFCC) have returned 11.9 Million Naira to Province 4 of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Rivers State.

The money was discovered missing from the church bank account by the pastor, Mark Barango who is incharged of the Province 4 RCCG church when he visited the Access bank in Port Harcourt.

A complaint was filed to access bank and to EFCC about the missing huge sum of money but it was gathered after investigation that Mr Cyril Idakwoji who is a deacon in the church and the account officer in the bank had siphoned the money for personal interest.

Cyril Adakwoji is reported to have forged the signatures of three authorities to the church account and made the instalment withdrawals.

Cyril has been sacked by access bank and was arrested by the police where he awaits trial in court.

EFCC boss incharged of South South Ishaq Salihu confirmed the incident to news men and revealed N11.9M was credited back to the Church by Access bank. Salihu added that about N36M was also credited back to another party Jeptha international school which Cyril had stolen from too.

The eleven Million naira owned by the church is said to have come from lunching, tithes and other money generated means by the church.

Reactions have followed the news with some jokingly asking EFCC to investigate the source of the money so they can rather give it back to the actual owners.

One Mr Otu Otu expressed concern how rich churches are now to the level of misappropriating millions of naira, he said "In governance, business, contracts, oil Sector, at homes etc we hear of missing money and now even in church. I can only imagine if a church is still a church and how rich they have become. it would have been no news if the pastor, his children or wife squandered such money. Anyway am rest assure that money would miss again."

Cyril Adakwoji is alleged to have bought cars and land which he was building on before his arrest but all have been confiscated by the bank.

Some members of the Redeemed church expressed disappointment at deacon Cyril action and understood his "fat cat habit". Few Others beg for forgiveness upon Cyril as a church that preach love and forgiveness but the pastor brought them to light that Cyril has been forgiven but Access Bank,EFCC and the Law still need to forgive him.
