FEMALE CORP MEMBER BRUTALLY RAPED IN CROSS RIVER STATE

A batch B female corp member serving in a remote village of Bakassi local government area of Cross River state has been brutally raped by a young man known to be a dreaded cultist in the area. The sad incident happened days ago at night while the corp member was asleep. 

The perpetrator of the act is said to have invaded the room of the corper who was raped severally with a gun and Axe threatening to kill her if she screamed or say a word to any body after all.  Unfortunately for the young man he was recognized by a neighbor of the beautiful female corp member who watched through his window what was happening but could not come out for long life reasons.  

The rapist was later apprehended by the Bakassi Police division after a combined effort with the youths in the area and identified as Michael Edet but was later transfered to Zone 6 the police headquarters in Calabar following the order of the no nonsense commissioner of police Hafiz Inuwa. 

The identify of the corper has been withheld for "security and social reasons" but she is rumored to come from the south west of Nigeria. She has been described by the police as traumatized and have refused to go back to the community despite encouragement and assurance of her safety. 

Some concerned persons in the state have pleaded for continuous security for National Youth Service Corp Members sent to various part of the country as part of the requirement for graduates who humbly serve their Father land.
They also begged for love and cooperation from the general society upon the corp members as it is a very punishable offense by the constitution of Nigeria to hurt any of them.

They have been several reported Rape cases in Nigeria and it seems to be on the increase because just few have been convicted by the law court and others remain suspects or are later free. An act which many Nigerians including girls and family affected by rape have frown at and plead for justice always to ensure it serve as a deterrent to others. 

Rape exist in every society and Russia under president Vladirm Putin is rumored to have enacted a law that allows rape victims to kill their rapist as self defense . In Nigeria it is 15years imprisonment with hard labour for rape but despite the law many alleged cases of rape are still on going. Alcohol and illicit drugs that increases libido and kill conscience is some explained reason for indulging in rape.
