FOUR ARRESTED IN BEKWARRA LGA FOR ARM ROBBERY
Four persons have been arrested in Bekwarra Local Government Area of Cross River State in connection with arm robbery. The Robbery gang was reported to have stormed the premises of shops owners on a broad day.
Four were arrested following the combine efforts of residents in the area while two are said to have escaped. Among those arrested include one person from Igbo while the rest three are from the area.
Bekwarra Local Government Area is reported to have experienced incessant robbery attacks in the past four months by unknown persons. An act that have subjected business men in the area to close by 6pm. The robbers however had to attack during the day since night wasn't favorable again but met their waterloo after the police were immediately informed and responded.
Some weapons such as guns,bullets, axe and charms were found on them when arrested. They are still in detention at the bekwara police division but are likely to be transfer to Zone 6 Calabar,the state police headquarters.
The indigenes of the area were thrown to celebration following the news as almost everyone is affected by the activities of the dreaded robbery group who shoot sporadically on air when out for operation .
One Mr Isiaac Obogo who spoke with deep relieve said "Am ashamed of the fact its my brothers,young boys, very young boys that pose such threat to us, there's no short cut to anywhere in life. They sure picked this path for themselves from the start. Just hope others will eventually learn from this."
Mr Isiaac added that "Good work my brothers, let's keep protecting our land from the hands of the wicked ones, Well done.Security is a collective responsibility of all citizens....it wouldn't have been made possible for the men of the underworld to be captured....live responsibly and report suspected actions of people around you that seems to truncate the peace of every citizen of Nigeria especially in bekwarra."
Bekwarra is located in northern part of Cross River State and share a boundary with Obudu L G A.
