REDEEMER'S UNIVERSITY EXPELLED STUDENT FOR BURSTING OUT ON FACEBOOK

A student of Redeemer's University owned by The Redeem Church of God Mission has been expelled by the school authority for "abusing the officials of the school on Facebook.  The student Debo Adedaye who is 25years old was in his final year in the department of theater Arts in the prestigious religious institution.

Debo Adedaye took to his Facebook account to share what was on his mind about affairs and management of the school which he described as being ruled by "bunch of greedy hypocrites". He added that he didn't call a name but whoever the shoe fit should wear it, describing the shoe as Gucci made.

He was expelled after the school management found him guilty of presenting a wrong image of the school to the world.

Debo who reacted to the expulsion said
"I have many awards and I mean ALL, I received as a Student of Redeemer's University. I received some within the University and some by other bodies outside the University. The University claim I put them in bad light. Most of you who have been following my posts on social media in the last two years would agree with me how I helped publicize Reedemer's University like it was my Father's school. This same me, would go to Ikeja city mall, different secondary schools advertising Reedemer's University like I was being paid for it. Like I keep saying, the list is endless. I never expected it would result to this as I always wanted nothing but progress for my Alma Mata. However, the management of the school have a different point of view. I would like to thank my parents for deciding to take legal action and will hereby rest my case for now. I thank you all for calls, messages and well wishes. Please help me let the world know what is happening to me because all I did was serve Reedemer's University with all my life."

Reactions have followed the news with
One Mr Timy of the view that "Reedemer's University is becoming an anarchist establishment. They believe that a good student is one who is living on his knees and asking no questions about their bizarre and absurdist actions. However, I am not so surprised. The medieval era was dominated by the autocratic (Christian to be specific) rulership and it remains the most unproductive, darkest age in the history of Europe. Debo, because I can do nothing other than speak. I do believe in justice and I strongly hope that you get justice, when I heard what had been done to you, I was puzzled, wondering just how mediocre these monsters are. I wish you good luck."

One other respondent was of a different opinion towards the expulsion, "I sympathise with his situation but the truth is he went too far. As a leader, you are in a position that requires you to be exceptionally careful with your actions, words, dispositions and your portrayal of the position you occupy. Your post and choice of words were derogatory for any individual and most certainly for a VC, whoever that VC is or whatever school it is. Comparing any two individuals isn't even appropriate, and much more speaking about an elder in the manner which you did isn't acceptable. You may have had justifiable reasons for your course but you went about it wrongly dear. yes you may have been disappointed one way or the other in the course and time you served as the student president but it is expected you keep your emotions in check and keep a calm and respectable personality. We need to learn to speak the truth in a way that brings a positive change not attacking authorities."

One Mr David also gave his thoughts on the matter, "If an institution of higher learning should teach you anything, it is the ability to think and speak freely. To be brave enough to oppose the status quo when you know that things are not going the way they should. Never have I heard of a school expelling a student for exercising his right to speak freely. How can an individual or institution improve when they cannot be criticized. The administration of this university should be ashamed of itself for reacting so childishly to criticism."

Other students expressed disappointment at the decision of the management with Christianity background to expelled Debo . They described Debo as a hardworking students who deserves better than expulsion and called on the National Association Nigeria Students (NANS) and other significant bodies to come to the help of Mr Macaroni as he is fondly call.

Redeemer's University is located in Osun State and was established in 2005.
