WELCOME TO CALABAR CARNIVAL DRY RUN 2017

Calabar the Cross River State headquarter came under bubbling today following the annual renounce Carnival festival kick off.

Calabar Carnival which started during the administration of former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke is always herald by different outlined activities. It usually begins with show casing the expected theme of the year and what the vast audience should expect hence the name dry run.

The Calabar Carnival dry run 2017 still focus on sustaining the green environment of Cross River State and the world to reduce the effect of global warming. It was declared opened by dignitaries of the state government despite the early morning rainfall.

Some roads such as Marian, Mary Slessor, High way and MCC where different bands passes through were blocked by policemen and volunteers positioned at various points.

In the years past Some residents and visitors in Calabar Complained of theft and snatching of valuables by suspected group known as "Area Boys" but police men and homeland security personnel were fully mobilised at strategic position to ensure safety of lives and properties.

Residents of Calabar metropolis turned out in mass to witness the dry run despite the lite rainfall. Some lamented about potholes in the street of calabar and begged the state ministry of works to arise to it responsibility.

The calabar carnival dry run show case stylish dances with trending music from Disc Jockey, beautiful makeup costumes, power bike display, bicycle display and not taking away the dope beautiful girls and six packs boys that attracts most people to never miss it.

Some of the participants for different band groups expressed concerned about the little amount of money handed to them despite the so much rigorous efforts and dedication to keep the carnival lively. It was gathered that some of the band leaders are alleged to give just a token out while they keep the rest. They called on the Carnival management committee to collect bank details of each participant and send cash directly to them.  Registration to become a member of a band was five hundred naira but increased to over two thousand naira now. Interested Indigenes have pleaded also for it reduction.

Calabar Carnival started in 2004 and this is it 14th edition. It has become the Africa biggest street party attracting worldwide attention yearly. Main activities are expected from 1st through 31st december. They have been calls for it cancelation because of the millions invested in it but such call was voted against with the expression it has become part of the state culture generating money to hotels, business men and general fun to end the year with.
