UNILAG WITHDRAWS 2017/2018 ADMISSION LIST

The University of Lagos (UniLag) has withdrawn her admission list for 2017/2018 academic session following alleged reports of irregularities.

The registrar of the university Olayatoyin  Adebule revealed it was necessary base on the grounds of speculated irregularities on the withdrawn admission list.

Some parents had tender reports to various head of departments about the non inclusion of their wards names in the admission list despite how they scored above the aggregate mark in their respectively departments.

The aptitude test cut off point for admission in some department was placed at 230 but alleged reports has it some students who scored above the mark were not admitted while those that scored below the mark were admitted.

It is not clear if its on the grounds of bribery as alleged reports by many claims but the university had given a statement on the ground of "irregularities" which can mean "systemic or human errors".

The Unilag management regrets the inconveniences the withdrawal may cause the in-going students and significant others.

Students whose names were confirmed on the withdrawn admission list expressed fears and worries on what the outcome would be but were consoled its for the best interests.

They were similar alleged reports in the University of Calabar about students being denied admission despite their excellent performance of scoring above the aggregate points required for admission.  

A mother Mrs Isu Denis said "My son applied for admission in the department of history and international studies in Unical, had aggregate score of 250 that's far above the admission mark of 230 set for the department but we are disappointed because his name is not on the admission list. We were told there would be a second list but am afraid my trust is gone."

Parents have advised the University Commission to maintain integrity in the conduct of their test.
