HELP: "EDIM OTOP TRANSFORMER IS MISSING"

Transformer in Edim Otop street of Calabar has been "obviously missing from it erected position" for about five days now.

The transformer that's consider as a property of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) is the only source of power supply to a large section of houses in Edim Otop street.

It was gathered that the transformer in the past one month has just been a noun than a verb its main for hence causing blackout in the area since November.

The transformer is said by residents to have exploded because it was over loaded. A street like Edim Otop which is now seen as a community with over 300 living houses and shops has just two transformers.

Despite appeals and efforts chaired by youths in the area for great intervention, PHCN has been passive about the complains with only a default remark of "No transformer" for replacement.

The news on the where about of the transformer which is currently been described by some residents in the area as missing with cry of help has been debunked by the youth leader in the area popularly known as Blacky.

The youth leader when contacted said it is a street collective effort to repair the transformer since PHCN are not happily ready. The youth leader said the move is for the good interest of all to enjoy known steady power supply in this period of Yuletide.

Blacky revealed that the transformer is comfortable in the hands of a known repairer in Calabar and the service charge would come from house to house contribution estimated at two thousand naira.

Residents in the area have uniformly urge  PHCN to be responsible in technical faults of her properties to reduce such wrong speculations possible of increasing tension in an area known to have zero tolerance for stealing.

About four persons have been separately burnt to death for stealing between June and September in Edim Otop that is located towards Akpabuyo Local Government Area.
