MASTER UNIMAGIE MISSING IN IKOM-CAMEROON RIVER

A boy who hale from Ohong village of Obudu local government area has been declared missing in Ikom-Cameroon water ways by family members.

The boy in his mid twenties was identified as Unimagie Akung and speak English and Bette language fluently.

Unimagie and a close friend, Atos who resides in ikom LGA are reported to have embarked on a job mission(sawing woods)early this month to Cameron after being contacted by a pastor who they usually work for.

On arrival in the very area in Cameroon with their working implements they ran into Cameroonians fighting for cessation. They opened gun fire on Unimagie & Atos with probably thoughts they were hired to fight them.

Unimagie sustained degrees of gunshot injuries and fell into the River as he tried to escape from danger while Atos who also sustained gunshot wounds was miraculously rescued by some strangers back to Ikom local government area where he is receiving treatment.

Unimagie is yet to be seen since then but his last words as said by atos were "Atia help,am dying", increasing speculation he is dead.

Search for Unimagie has been on since then by his family members but one Mr Unimke Agba has frown at the effort of the search as not "worth the life of an Obudu man".

"An Obudu child is missing for over a week and we are only active in circulating the story and assuming he is dead rather than searching endlessly. Is gossip and assumption the best step to find a love one? Such effort is not worth the precious life of Obudu blood. Let's put more effort be it financially & otherwise in support of the family to boast the search. A river does not keep a man forever."

Blames have been accorded to the Pastor and their ignorance or decision of stepping into a war zone area.

Fighting is on in some part of Cameroon for over two months now with the call for division. About hundreds of Cameroonians have fled to neighbouring Cross River States Local Government areas like Boki, Ogoja, Ikom, Obanlikwu, Obudu and the ranch resort.

Nigeria is bounded in the East by Cameroon. There is notable existence of Economic activities among some communities of Cameroon and Ikom local government area of cross river state.

Appeals have been made by close relatives of Unimagie to the public to kindly report any information regarding the whereabout of Unimagie to the nearest police station.
