PDP: WE WON'T DIE WITHOUT OBASENJO
The spokesperson of People's Democratic Party (PDP) Prince Dayo Adeyeye has reiterated concerns that the party won't die without Former Nigeria President Olusegun Obasenjo.
Prince Dayo maintained that the party is in good shape amid the chairmanship crises it faced and are ready to take over power by next election come 2019.
Prince Dayo statement is coming after comments from Obasenjo when the new PDP chairman Senator Ahmed Markafi visited him(Obasenjo).
The former president who tore his PDP membership Card in 2014 just before the 2015 General Election because of internal crises in the party maintained his stand of not going back saying a dog does not go back to eat it throw up and expressed okays of being just a stateman.
Obasenjo said "I have told the chairman that I was in the PDP before but not now. God forbid, say when dog vomits, it will go back to eat its vomit, no. I have said no partisan politics for me again, but Nigeria is my passion until death do us apart. And anything that concerns Nigeria, the good of Nigeria, you’ll see my involvement. The chairman has only come to greet me and i greet am, and now that we have greeted ourselves, the chairman will be going, you gentlemen and ladies of the press, you can now go, leave the chairman alone."
His words got many journalists, personal assistants, guests that were present and even people that watch or read the news laughing unendingly with limited imaginations of how prepared he was for the moment.
The PDP chairman visit is rumored to be on reconciliation grounds with the highly respected Obasenjo as they re-strategize for 2019 but he later cleared the air that he was just on a courtesy visit which many still doubt.
Nigerians have reacted to Obasenjo statements with some describing it as alright especially in this period of "politics without dignity" and admire him for being a man of his words while others said his decision is just because he has attained a menopause of his political career. They advise Obasenjo not to be "unconcern" about the affairs of Nigeria till death part him.
Obasenjo was nicknamed a "political prophet" in 2015 after he said in October 2014 that "Even Goodluck Jonathan knows he is not the next president of Nigeria". Some Nigerians have pleaded with him to expresses such "prophetic political power" in 2019 for the continuous betterment of the nation.
PDP elective convention is slated for December 9 in Abuja.
