PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IN KENYA HOLDS AMIDST PROTEST

Kenyan's Presidential rerun election is ongoing amidst protest from opposition party looming the country since August.

The protest follows the declaration of the incumbent President Uhuru Kenyatta as winner by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in August.

The August 8 election was annulled by the supreme court for irregularities and criminality in the conduct of the election after a petition filed by the opposition presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

The court had ordered IEBC to conduct another election within sixty days as the constitution stipulates.

Protest by supporters of Raila Odinga has been on since then despite the ruling of the court. The Protesters led by Raila Odinga are calling for a reform in the electoral process else they won't participate.

Odinga who had described the electoral process as cham vowed he won't participate if changes are not made for a fair election. An appeal by Odinga to postpone the election in court failed yesterday following the supreme court ruling. He has been absent from the on going voting and no election rather protest is on going in his region call Kisumi of the luo clan.

Uhuru Kenyatta had voted earlier in his home town Gatundu of Kikuyi clan and urged Kenyans to go out and choose their leader. The election is peaceful in Kenyatta strong hold region and voting is on going.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission had maintained it readiness to provide a free and fair election and debunk corrupt accusation by Odinga.

As it stands the IEBC will still announce the winner base on the statistics the body have. Many have feared protest looming the area would continue. Election observers from Africa Union have stayed off today's election for fear of insecurity.

The presidential race is between the two major ethnic group Luo and Kikuyi clan where Odinga and Kenyatta are from respectively. There's a believe in Luo clan they are been marginalized. Luo as reported is yet to produce a president for the country.

A Political commentator Agba Joseph blame Raila Odinga for instigating protest with his "continues speeches", "The Implication of Odinga staying off the election process is that it would steer more protest. The protest began because he rejected the election and it is still sustained because of his continuous language. It is in period like this that a good leader is identified. The election was annulled because of irregularities and he should have participated since the law court is still there, moreover he is familiar with the alleged irregularities, that makes it easier to identify if repeated no matter the shape it takes.

Agba added that "the end to Kenyan's protest that has taken many lives lies in Raila Odinga hands, he should call his people to order by his true body language. There have never been peaceful protest no matter how he song it to be peaceful."

Reports has it about sixty persons have died and many others injured from the protest since August.

Some Kenyans on twitter begs for calm and integrity from those vested with the right to coordinate election in Africa at wide and plead with Candidates to accept defeat or channel complains to the appropriate quarters as a true leader is ascertain during defeat.
