REASONS NIGERIA ELECTED LEADERS KEEP FAILING
It is the joy of Enlightened Nigerians to match to various polling units to exercise their franchise as a breath to new leadership. The election exercise is done four years interval and has a maximum of two terms for an elected leader according to the Nigeria constitution.
The choices of voters often end in regret and disappointment because the leaders fail woefully in fulfilling their mandate. These habits have resulted to increase grievances that is a fence to Unity in many Nigerians, thereby stopping them from further participation in the voting process as it has been describe "a waist of time."
To how these our elected leaders fail despite the available resources still shocks even the devil. Failure we know is a path to success only if you learnt but this has been undoubtedly a path to more failure. The reasons are silently loud before us but we may or may not know.
One of the reason our politicians keep failing is because they make the mandate before the victory with the intention of pleasing people and by the time they get to office,it becomes known to them the state resources can't finance such project hence borrowing from world bank set in. Few projects are done amidst other obligations while others are left incomplete or just in the blueprint. This patten is practice in developed nations where there is a carefully study of the left & right before making election mandate and couple with their level of integrity there is higher fulfillment score. A country like Nigeria struggling to understand what integrity means apart from the dictionary check up copied the style with few if there is any examining the possibility of achieving such mandate. Some that do examine fail in the statistics of the study and only realized how impossible it is when sworn into power While others proceed to make the promises just to satisfy the cheering crowd and earn their vote.
Another reason is the attitude of people around our elected political leaders with most emphasis on the President, Governors, Senators ,Honorable among others. These leaders appoint Ministers, Commissioners, Special Advisers, Special Assistant who prefer to feed them with praises than the simply truth that reflect the voices of loud masses. Praises are fed because it makes the leaders brain smile and the pocket of the praiser in turns smile attractively than Lightening. Praises are fed because they're afraid of loosing their job if they say otherwise. It is worthy to note that most leaders are not aware of what is happening in a certain ministry, section or Area. Even if they know, they just only know its alright because they have been told beyond reasonable doubt about how okay there is. It is also wise to note that its only a fool that feed on praises and is fed with praises, whoever praises you always is not your friend. A wise leader feed on criticism and get more wise. In layman tone our leaders are failing because they are gladly so misinformed.
Thirdly, Our Elected Leaders keep failing because our hopes are very high on them. It is so difficult to please a man with high hopes of expectations. These high hopes exist because the previous administration failed and the new set of leaders sworn in with different mandate are highly expected to perform magic but unfortunately there become worse than the previous ones. In other words there is no continuity in our government and this do result to failure.
Corruption and selfishness is another reason our Elected leaders fail. Before victory these aspirant are subjected to pay heavily to men known as King Makers who once genuinely approved of any one becomes the next in power even if he is not the choice of the Masses. A practice many have rebuke but its still existing. The repacaution of this is that they aspire to gain the amount of money they lose and most people endorsed by the king makers are not leaders nor good followers. Hence they become corrupt, selfish and squander the state resources which result to failure.
The reasons why Nigeria Elected Leaders fail are very numerous depending on the context of failure but what an average man understands by such failure is the inability to fulfilled the election mandate and the provision of basic amenities. Though some have describe Nigeria present State as a path of development but its indeed a longer path.
It is worthy to encourage that what is main for the masses should be given to the masses. Our leaders should elongate their ears to the society as a number one basic requirement by a leader so that many people like me too won't be talking to ourselves. Leaders burry failure so we can grow.
