UNICAL FINAL YEAR STUDENT SHOT DEAD BY SUSPECTED CULTISTS

A final year student of the University of Calabar,Calabar has been shot dead by suspected cultists following a dispute over a phone.

The student who was set to celebrate his graduation from the prestigious tedious university with his course mates was cut short of his and family expectation last week. He was shot dead in the premises of the Cross River State University of Technology last week.

The student whose names were not main known as of the time of filing this report is alleged to have led a group of Army men to arrest some boys in Ekpo Abasi street of Calabar South after he identified them for snatching his phones at gunpoint.

The army are alleged to have beaten the young men severely and handed them over to the police for prosecution but were set free just days later.

Alleged stories has it they have been trailing and threatening the final year student since then. He was shot at closed range in Crutech where he spent some of the hours reading as it was closer to where he lives. The killers are alleged to have shouted in the slogan of a cult group.

The vice chancellor of Crutech Owan Enoh has mobilized army officers and security men on casual appearance to the school to avoid further breakdown of law and order. 

The corpse was deposited in a morgue and the search for the killers who are on the run is on by the police.

Youths have been advise to stay clear of cultism, robbery and killing of each other for whatever reason. Some of the students blamed the police for letting such deadly hoodlums back to the society when they were arrested.
