KIDNAPPERS KILLED IN IKOM L G A OF CROSS RIVER STATE

Five young men alleged to be kidnappers have been shot dead by the Anti Cultism/Kidnapping Squad in Ikom local government Area of Cross River State early Wednesday morning. 

The alleged kidnappers were traced to their chilling zone and are alleged to have engaged the police squad in gun battle on sighting them but were overpowered by the special trained squad members. 

Residents in the area were spotted running for safety on hearing the gunshots but later trooped to the station where cops of the kidnappers were displayed. 

It was gathered, Ikom Local Government Area has witnessed some recent cases of kidnappings, cultism clashes and Armed  robbery. The security has been tailing the perpetrators of the acts. 

The identity and origin of the five young men are yet to be revealed but the bodies were displayed to the public for relevant information that would lead to contacting their families. 

Residents in Ikom are still in shock about the incident as many didn't believed such location was a hide out of kidnapers. It is a different atmosphere in the area today, Some persons have applied caution by restricting their movements so far. Most Shops in the area are set to closed as early as 6pm for fear of the unknown. 

Some of the residents praised the efforts of the police and believed such deaths would lead to absolute peace for a period in the area while few others condemned the shootings with questions of what if they are innocent?. 

It is still unknown where and who fell victims of the kidnappers but kidnappings has been an often sad news of the day in Cross River State and Nigeria at wide. 

The 8th Nigeria Senate has formulated a death sentence law for kidnappers if proven guilty in court. 

The Anti Cultism/Kidnapping Squad was formed months ago by the Cross River State government as measures to combat such peculiar crimes in the state.
