PHCN HIT OBUDU VILLAGES WITH UGLY MILLIONS OF NAIRA BILLS
Power holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) has hit villages in Obudu with millions of naira bills for the month end, November.
The bills are coming after the resurrection of Power in Obudu, ending almost two years of black out and "wrong sense" in known quarters.
The estimated bills targeted collectively for villages has N2.8M for Ohong community, N2.2M for Bedia, Igbon & Betukwel, N3M for Akem, N2M for Okorshie and the rest villages equally received ugly millions of Naira with usual instruction of "No Pay, No Service".
The change in operation from head to head bill to community bill is said to be on alleged brutality of PHCN staffs and other misconduct recorded in the past. It is seen by PHCN as an easy way of dealing with customers in the villages as it takes just a switch to keep the community unable to pay in black out.
The estimated bills have been shared accordingly by the village organizers who are often involved in diverting the money to personal needs hence bringing misunderstanding & keeping some communities in black out.
Indigenes of the area have appealed to relevant quarters to effect the return of meters cum head bill rather than community estimated bill as most compounds have nothing else apart from bulbs and Television for favorite Emmanuel TV channel & not even a fridge as most people prefer the natural clean cold water from the streams known as "kigbe".
In the main time, they call for accountability and integrity from those vested with the power to move house to house for the collection of the money.
It was gathered that the money was shared in thousands of naira per house though many are yet to pay because of "financial e no dey" and December bill is fast approaching but disconnection is a matchup for non compliance.
Appreciation and praises have been quarterly poured on PHCN by most indigenes of the area for stepping up the supply of power in Obudu to almost constant.
